Summary
The extent to which patients adhere to recommended therapeutic measures is one of the key challenges for all medical disciplines [1]. It concerns all pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies. It is a well known fact that patients with psychiatric disorders have great difficulties to adhere to therapeutic regimens. On the other hand they would substantially profit from adhering to medication [2, 3]. This manuscript focuses on treatment adherence in patients suffering from schizophrenia. As adherence problems with regard to the regular intake of medication is one of the key problems in the management of schizophrenia [4] we focus on this specific aspect.
