Abstract

Local therapy in synchronously metastasized disease is an uncommon strategy and usually not the first way to go. However, retrospective but also some prospective data suggest some kind of benefit with this treatment. Underlying mechanisms are not understood. This invited short review deals with the resection of the primary breast cancer in stage IV breast cancer patients.
